Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) has announced the names of national team coaches.
Speaking in an interview on May 11, the public relations officer of BOKA, Sensei Isaiah Ramontshonyana said that the three names were selected following the recommendation by a task team to the executive where they were identified as best candidates to take national team positions.
Sensei Ramontshonyana said currently there was no coach because the coaches applications were received and individuals submitted their documents. He added that closing date for submissions was 21 April and the appointment was done on 25 April.
He said Sensei Otto Tafa would take care of the senior team, Sensei Christopher Ponatshego the junior team under 21 while Sensei Goitseone Mongologa will go for the children. The trio will coach for one year.
BOKA spokesperson further said Sensei Tafa would be responsible for the team travelling to Cameroon for Africa Cup on May 29 and would ensure the team was well prepared and brings medals home. Sensei Tafa “has experience in winning the Africa Cup tournament which was held in Botswana. He will make sure the team is ready for international tournaments,’’ said Sensei Ramontshonyana.
Sensei Mongologa was the assistant coach for Africa Youth Games and he has been part of the junior team and he was doing well as an athlete.
