Makgakgane Primary School celebrates victory

Makgakgane primary school on Friday held a victory party to celebrate the school achievement of scooping position one among Kgalagadi north primary schools.
The school achieved a pass for the past three years in kgalagadi region and scooped first position with 89.7 per cent in the last Primary School Leaving Examinations(PSLE) and was awarded a floating trophy.


Giving a keynote address at the school’s victory party, Minister of Basic Eduacation’s private secretary, Mr Tshwarelo Hosia said the victory was made even more distingushed by the fact that the school was situated in a rural area, where basic necessities such as electricity and libraries were limited.
Thus, he pleaded with other schools in the region to learn from the school improve their results.
He pointed out that limited resources was not an excuse for failure, and that students from rural areas were as equally competent  as their counterparts from urban areas.


He said the results had also proved that good performance was a results of proper institutional management, above all other things.
Mr Hosia advised the students that their good achievement in the PSLE, was the beginning of their long academic journey, and also encouraged them to maintain good performance together with commitment and responsibility.
Mr Hosia  further advised the school that the good results should be a motivator to work even more harder, and that they should evaluate themselves and work towards accomplishing even better results next year.


He commended the school’s staff for the good work despite challenges, such as lack of accommodation.
He further encouraged parents to continue working closely with teachers to ensure the school maintain good results.
The schoo head, Ms Sentebanye Molatole attributed the success of the school to good discipline between school management and the students.


She said the school functioned as an organisation adding that everyone, who worked at the school including the involvement of the community, played a significant role in the performance.
Students’ representative Tshepiso Basutli thanked teachers for their efforts of working tirelessly to ensure that they attain good results.
She said they worked hard as students with commitment and dedication to be among the best schools in the country.  ENDS
