KPMG launches investment handbook
20 Jun 2013
An international accounting firm, KPMG, has published a handbook on investment in Botswana, which was officially launched on June 19.
Speaking at the launch of the book titled KPMG’s Guide to Investing in Botswana, KPMG Africa chairperson, Mr Moses Kgosana said his organisation was working hard to lure international investment to the continent.
He said KPMG had seen development, growth and opportunities that Africa presented to the world, adding with major economies facing difficult growth; this was an opportune time for the continent. Mr Kgosana, who is also the CEO of KPMG Southern Africa, said they had put Africa on a world map and they continued to convince their clients to invest.
He said the continent offered opportunities in various industries such as telecommunications adding that at KPMG, they continuously trained their staff in order to meet their clients’ needs.
For his part, a partner at KPMG Botswana, Mr Nigel Dixan-Warran said they wanted an easy publication, which was informative and could even be read aboard Gaborone – Johannesburg flights.
Mr Dixan-Warran said their publication, which was the first, came at a crucial time when Botswana was at cross roads as Diamond Trading Company (DTC) relocated to the country. He said it would be reviewed every two years or when the need arose.
The 74-page book has 12 chapters and covered topics such as working and living in Botswana, investment climate, investment framework, how to invest, trade and customs and labour.
It promises to be an investor’s reliable tool especially as it offers crucial information including important statistics on the economy and population and further, has information on how Botswana is ranked by various international organisations in different fields. Ends
