Sibisibi Wareus retained chairman and vice seats

Kweneng District Council Chairperson, Mr Jeffery Sibisibi and vice chairperson, Ms Tshepo Wareus have retained their seats following an elections of the council leadership during a special full council on May 9.
Cllr Sibisibi, won with 58 votes against Mr Ontatlhile Selatlhoso’s 24 votes, while cllr Ofentse Mareme lost with 26 votes against Ms Wareus’ 55 votes.
Other elections were those of three sub-councils being Molepolole/Lentsweletau, Mogoditshane/Thamaga and Letlhakeng with Mogoditshane/Thamaga sub-council bringing new faces to the sub-council.
The elections, resulting with Councillor Ofentse Mafoko being elected as the new sub-council chairperson together with vice Johnson Rowland ousting the incumbent cllrs Dancan Ramasigopane of and vice Moemedi Mokgachane.
The elections that were contested by BDP cllrs was won by cllr Mafoko with 19 votes against Cllr Ramasiagopana’s 16 while cllr Mokgachane lost with 16 votes against Mogoditshane Central North’s Johnson Rowland with 18 votes.
Cllrs Mafoko and Rowland recently defected from Botswana National Front (BNF) and the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) to the ruling BDP.
Sub-council elections for Molepolole/Lentsweletau and Letlhakeng sub-councils were conducted smoothly with cllrs Botokanayana Motoroko and Thomas Batlhophi retaining their chairmanship with Slumber Mokgosi and Lefoko Kegopotswe retained their vice chairpersons positions respectively.
Cllrs Motoroko and Mokgosi each won with 20 votes against councillrs Mookami Mantimane and Patrick Gabanamotse’s 11 each.
Giving remarks following election into the office, Council Sibisibi expressed gratitude over the councilollrs’ constant trust in his capabilities of leading Kweneng District, adding that he was hopeful of joint support towards providing quality service to Kweneng communities. ENDS
