FNBB Foundation warms up winter for pupils

First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development started its annual winter shoe drive at Sekondomboro Primary School in Okavango on May 3.
A press release from FNBB states that running for the third year, the 20-day shoe drive will see the foundation providing 3 138 pairs of shoes worth over P429 000 to 19 schools in remote areas around Botswana.
FNBB marketing and communications director, Ms Obonye Malope says in the release that the winter shoe drive is an extension of the bank’s commitment to establish strong support system for those who need it the most.
Ms Malope says for the past three years, they have continued efforts that improve the wellbeing of communities through this initiative and are pleased with helping to create a positive experience for children, especially in the face of the harsh winter season.
Further, the release says this year, the foundation is making donations in the northern part of the country and that the shoe drive is one of several charitable causes that the foundation undertakes in support of the community.
It explains that shoes will be delivered to schools in various districts including Okavango, Ghanzi, Charleshill, Mabutsane, Kgalagadi South, Kgalagadi North and Letlhakeng, among others. ENDS
