Japan honours Batswana

The government of Japan has pleased His Majesty the Emperor Akihito to confer the decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star to the former Ambassador of Botswana to Japan, Mr Oscar Motswagae.
According to a press release from the Embassy of Japan in Botswana, the award is in recognition of Mr Motswagae’s contributions in promoting friendly relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Botswana over the years.
The release also states that the Emperor further confers the decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette to Mr Motsereganye Sekgopo, principal forest and range resources officer of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism for his contribution in promoting the activities of Japanese technical cooperation and strengthening relations between Japan and Botswana.
It further says through the awards being conferred on the two, it is expected that the bilateral relations shared between Botswana and Japan will be strengthened further.
It furthermore says the ceremony of conferment will be held at a later date at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador. ENDS
