IHS student nurses hand over litter cage
27 Apr 2017
Molepolole Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) student nurses have donated a litter cage and four litter bins to Tsootsha community in an effort to encourage proper litter disposal.
Principal nurse at Tsootsha Clinic, Ms Elsie Ghaakwe said during the handover that the donated litter cage would come handy, noting that the way litter was disposed in the village was a health hazard to children and animals.
When handing over the litter cage, student nurse, Ms Susan Mmale said they went around the village identifying health associated challenges residents might be facing.
She said they found heaps of litter in the community having not been properly disposed, and that this pushed them to address the issue.
She noted that they worked with residents to construct the litter cage and requested for litter bins from the council.
Ms Mmale said they worked with Tsootsha junior school art students to design litter boards to caution residents about proper litter disposal.
Giving a vote of thanks, Kgosi Bernad Kaome of Tsootsha appreciated student nurses for their gesture.
He also encouraged residents to take care of the litter cage and litter bins by protecting them from vandalism and theft. ENDS
