The deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Nchidze Mmolawa has pleaded with local contractors to be patriotic and ensure that they deliver quality workmanship at all times.
Speaking during the Kang infrastructure consultative meeting recently, Mr Mmolawa stated that local constructors who have been awarded Economic Stimulus Projects needed not only to consider their personal economic benefit derived from carrying out ESP projects, but should at the same time ensure a long time durability of the project’s.
He said it was important for local contractors to consider the positive impact that the projects would have in the community if such projects were completed on time and with quality workmanship.
“It is of great significance that local constructors consider that upon completion, such projects will be used by their fellow country men, therefore a lot of their emphasis should be on delivering quality products that will benefit Batswana in the long run,” he said.
He also cautioned local producers and constructors alike to refrain from price hiking when rendering services to government, saying it could be regarded as some form of corruption. end
