BDF display impresses President Khama
23 Apr 2017
President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has hailed the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) for puting up a good display during the 40 years of anniversary by the army.
President Khama told invited guests at a BDF Day Ruby Jubilee Mess Night that this year’s celebration was one of the best he had ever watched.
President Khama said BDF array of displays at the National Stadium this year was the best.
He said he could not understand how the BDF under the stewardship of Lt Gen. Placid Segokgo had this time around come up with extra-ordinarily good displays, which under normal circumstances was difficult to achieve, especially when one had to do the shows annually and endeavor to retain the audience.
In appreciation for this good work, the President in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief ordered that all those who took part in this year’s BDF 40th anniversary should be given extra two days off in addition to what the commander was going to give them.
Earlier on, the chairperson of the BDF Day Ruby Jubilee celebration, Brigadier Motswana Barwabatsile said he was happy that they were able to successfully deliver the assignment they were tasked with, noting that the 40 years of BDF existence were worth celebrating.
He said the BDF had over time transformed into a formidable defence force and had made tangible successes, which was a positive sign. end
