Mozambique President Nyusi visits Botswana

President Mr Filipe Jacinto Nyusi of Mozambique is set to visit the country from April 24- 26.
A press release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation says the state visit to Botswana will be President Nyusi’s first and it follows a successful visit to Mozambique by President Lt. Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama in May 2016.


“During the visit, the two presidents will deliberate on issues of mutual interest and explore ways and means of deepening relations between the two countries.”
The statement further says Botswana and Mozambique established formal diplomatic relations in 1975 adding that to strengthen bilateral cooperation; the two countries signed a Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) in 2005.


“The bilateral mechanism provides a platform to promote and explore bilateral cooperation in various areas of development such as energy, agriculture, health, education, transport and communications.”
The press release notes that President Nyusi will officially open the Botswana-Mozambique Business Forum on April 25.


He is also scheduled to visit impact genetics, a cattle genetics company and Diamond Trading Centre Botswana (DTCB). President Nyusi and his delegation are expected to depart Botswana on April 26. end
