Lelatisitswe starts constituency foundation

Member of Parliament for Boteti East, which covers a sparsely populated section of Boteti Sub-District extending over various villages comprising Khwee, Mmatshumo, Mmeya, Mokubilo and Mosu villages Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe has registered a foundation for the benefit of the community.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Lelatisitswe revealed that Boteti East Foundation was now a registered community trust, established and recognised under the laws of Botswana with the aim of promoting the social, economic and other developmental needs of the residents of Boteti.

The foundation is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-discriminatory trust, which embraces all who wish to lobby, advocate and mobilise efforts towards empowering residents of Boteti and have a deep desire to see them prosper by coming up with creative ideas to provide them with unrestricted modern developments for them to reach their potential and ultimately for their individual human achievement.

Part of the mandate of the foundation is to support and promote alternative and innovative ways that can contribute effectively to poverty alleviation for the benefit of the public in socially and economically disadvantaged communities in Boteti, through implementation of integrated community based as well as individual oriented projects that will enhance the capacity of self-development of the people.

He said the foundation would also be very much involved in activities that promoted active participation of the youth in the socio-economic development of the country through provision of institutional guidance and support of viable income generating projects.

To achieve its mandate the foundation has devised a fundraising strategy that includes hosting corporate events as well as music festivals.

They have recently hosted a series of events in Boteti amongst them Orapa Soul Sessions, a musical show piece and lifestyle event as well as a cultural festival, the annual “Boteti Letlhafula” fiesta, the first Annual Boteti Letlhafula will be held at the Member of Parliament’s farm in Letlhakane on May 20, 2017.

Minister of Health and Wellness who is also  Member of Parliament for Sefhare/Ramokgonami Ms Dorcas Makgato, serves as patron of the foundation.

In a letter she authored in support of the foundation’s work, Minister Makgato who lived in Boteti region for many years called on all members of the comunity as well as the private sector to rally behind the initiative established to prosper and develop a region rich in natural resources and ‘so dear to my heart.’BOPA
