Police chief advices against night drives

Police in Selebi Phikwe area are investigating an accident which claimed a life during the Easter holidays.
In an interview station commander, Superintendent Victor Nlebesi said the accident occurred on Thursday around midnight between Serule and Selebi Phikwe.
He said a Honda Fit carrying three men aged between 26 and 30 years heading towards Serule enroute to Nlhapkhwane hit a cow .
He said unfortunately one of the passengers in the vehicle was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Selebi Phikwe Hospital while the other two men being the driver of the vehicle and a passenger sustained injuries.
Superintendent Nlebesi explained that in most instance accidents caused by animals happened during the night due to poor visibility.
He urged travellers to avoid travelling or driving at night.
He also called on motorists to always check if their vehicles were road worthy.
On other issues, the station commander mentioned that no other major accidents occurred over the Easter Holidays. He also mentioned that though Mmadinare was haven of entertainment due to the Mmadinare Meat Festival, no major crimes and accidents were recorded.
He said everything was under control and in order and people worked hand in hand with the police along the roads. BOPA
