Ministry and USAID upgrade schools' ablution system

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has rehabilitated the ablution system of two junior secondary schools in Gumare and Sepopa.
The Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Vincent Seretse said at a launch ceremony at the Okavango Junior Secondary School in Gumare on June 17.
Mr Seretse said the project, which was undertaken under the Adopt-a-school programme, would go a long way in improving sanitation in the Okavango area. ”I appreciate that the initiative involves teachers, students and parents in the learning and practice of hygiene “he said.
The assistant minister appreciated USAID's assistance, saying they were investing in the future of the society, teaching profession and nation at large.
Mr Seretse said when adopting a project, participants created a long term relationship and understanding with future benefits. “Participants move together in monitoring, reviewing and evaluating and seeing desired results”.
The schoolhead at Popagano Junior Secondary School in Sepopa, Mrs Selebatso Modisaemang thanked USAID for contributing towards improving education. She challenged the Popagano and Okavango junior secondary schools to take good care of the toilets. ENDS
