Vikings Police close in on BoFiNet championship

Vikings women’s team and Police men are one step closer to becoming the 2016/17 BoFiNet Softball league champions after qualifying for the finals billed for April 22 at the National Diamond.
Vikings finished on a clean slate upon winning all their encounters over the weekend wrapping up with a 4-1 triumph over defending champions Police women on April 9 at National Diamond.
Police men on the other hand beat BDF 3-2 in their closing encounter at UB Diamond to book a spot in the finals.
Police and Panthers women are yet to clash in the bronze medal encounter where the winner will be promoted and face Vikings in the final while the loser settles for a bronze.
Equally on the men’s side BDF and Wells will lock horns in the bronze medal duel which would decide who faces Police in the finals.
Panthers women on Sunday narrowly beat Wells 8-7 in an epic clash that could have gone either way hence ensuring the former a top three spot.
Wells were on fire in the opening inning registering a point through Kelebogile Lesesere who was followed by Gaamangwe Moagi and Khumo Gababolokwe.
Othusitse Molatlheng then followed suit and delivered a run which gave Wells a four runs gap.Panthers answered back in the second inning as Keosaletse Tshimologo scored from an error throw targeted at removing a runner at first base.
Kenanano Solomon then thumped a ground hit that sent Wells in to panic mode as Cheludo Johane registered a point.
Pressure mounted on Wells, the pitcher dishing balls while all bases were full hence Solomon registering a soft run.
Onneetse Seth made a powerful hit that propelled past third base and short stop which seemed to have caused a havoc on the fielding conceding three runs from Mpho Setlalekgosi, Boitshwarelo Sefo and Lesego Rankwaila.Morongwa Sephekolo scored a solitary run for Wells in the fourth inning while Panthers Lebitso Mpitsang also delivered an only run in the fourth inning.
Wells came in to the fifth inning looking to level the score and sure they did through Koketso Seleke and Molatlheng to make it seven all.
It was now upon the Jwaneng girls to tight field to deny Panthers any more runs being the bottom batters.
It was panthers prayers which were answered on the day as they registered a winning run by Neo Seth securing them a life card at the finals provided they overcome their biggest obstacle Police.
In another encounter at the National Diamond defending champions Wells crashed Rail Giants 6-4 in a duel that the former dominated from the word go.
Wells registered four runs in the second inning by Thabo Dihodino who was followed by Eric Simwanza’s homerun that sailed Tawangwa Ketlaleka and Odirile Boitshwarelo home.Rail Giants answered back in the fourth inning through Romeo Tshelametsi, Thatayaone Bagopi, Edwin Gaofano and Edwin Odirile to level score.
It was game on for Wells as they registered their winning runs on the fourth inning through Boitshwarelo and Simwanza to walk away with a 6-4 win. ENDS
