Tshiamo Primary School has over the past five years achieved a pass rate of over 80 per cent in the Primary School Leaving examinations.

Speaking at the 2016 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) best results celebrations under the theme 'Still Aboard In a Flight of No Limit: Carrying On the Legacy,' Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness,

Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said the school continued to shine over the years and consistently achieved a pass rate of over 80 per cent.

“I would therefore like to congratulate the school management, teachers, parents and the learners for the individual collective roles you have displayed in achieving these commendable results,” he said.

Mr Makgalemele encouraged the school management to share their best experiences and replicate their strategies in other schools.

He urged the school management to interact and share best practices with rural based schools.

He cited that in other countries, there were exchange programmes for students to experience different learning environments and this has proven to produce good results.

He noted that producing good results required an even higher degree of outside-the-box thinking, boldness and innovation and most importantly it required leadership which was empowered and supported to not only implement new strategies, but also to maintain that culture of high performance.

For her part, the acting director in the South East region, Ms Lois Ngope said Tshiamo primary school was one of the highest performing schools in Gaborone and it carried a legacy of high performance in Primary School Leaving Examinations.

She said it was truly a joint effort with the parents and teachers that students were performing exceptionally well.

For her part, the head of department, upper level, Ms Naomi Setshwantsho said the school had been doing exceptionally well in the past years and it had attained position two in the 48 schools in the South East region in AB grades which stood at 62 per cent and it got position 3 with 97.8 per cent in the ABC grades.
