BIHL Trust adopts Nokaneng primary

04 Apr 2017

Through the Adopt-a-School initiative, a partnership between the Ministry of Basic Education and Sebilo Book Services, the BIHL Trust has adopted Nokaneng Primary School, making it the 11th school to be welcomed into the BIHL family.

A press release from BIHL Trust says the initiative includes sponsoring the refurbishment of vacant buildings on school properties and turning them into school libraries in order to ensure that students have continued access to quality reading materials for their studies. In addition to this, the adoption will include the installation of educational software onto the school computers.

The release further says education related programmes received the largest share of the 2017 trust budget with the fervent belief in making learning materials available, starting first in remote areas.

It further says history books continue to tell stories of national heritage and that of many across the world, showing that knowledge is indeed a form of empowerment.

The release highlighted that it is the trust’s passion to be part of bridging the national information gap by encouraging a reading culture.

The press release says the adoption comes in alignment with supporting Nokaneng to improve their overall pass rate and to make a sustainable contribution towards the national pass rate target of 76 per cent.

It further says their efforts as a trust will encourage other members of the corporate community to reach out to learning institutions in need and help the nation realise the Vision 2036 imperative of a knowledge based economy. ENDS
