Coordinator calls for supervision

17 Jun 2013

The coordinator of Ipelegeng for Serowe region, Mr Mmolotsi Katholo has requested village elders to manage Ipelegeng workers and projects.

Speaking during the just ended Serowe Administrative Authority sub-council meeting, Mr Katholo said the village chief, councillors and social workers should be engaged in supervision of Ipelegeng workers.

He said management of Ipelegeng workers and projects was not the responsibility of the coordinator and the village development communities (VDC) only. He said the entire community should take part in Ipelegeng projects, adding that his office was not reluctant to monitor the projects and workers.

He further said it was surprising to hear some concerns during kgotla meetings addressed by Members of Parliament and insisted that the councillors should work hand in hand with workers for them to be assisted in time.

Mr Katholo said members of the VDC should rotate in monthly basis to give others a chance. For their part, councillors expressed worry that trees and shrubs were left for a long time without being disposed off.

Tshikinyega Ward Councillor, Mr Solomon Dikgang said it was surprising that trees and shrubs that were cut near Serowe showground in 2010 were still not disposed off while Mogatsapoo councillor, Mr Bahiti Ratora said government should allow Ipelegeng workers to burn the waste. ENDS
