Police in Bobonong are investigating a case in which a 16-year-old boy is suspected to have stabbed to death a 19-year-old foreigner with a sharp instrument in Maiswe lands.
Bobonong station commander, Superintendent Paul Seoko said since the accused was a juvenile, they were working with social workers on how the case could be handled. The incident happened last week, and he said they were still investigating where the foreigner originates.
Apart from the murder case, Superintendent Seoko said they had arrested three youth aged 18 and 19 years who were suspected to have been terrorising residents by committing offences such as house breaking.
Of the three suspects, he said two were Matshekge Senior Secondary School students while the other one was not a student.
He said the suspects had been committing offences at the school where they stole gadgets such as cellphones.
A total of 31 cellphones were recovered from the suspects and only four cellphones have been identified by the owners.
He said the cellphones ranged from smartphones to ordinary ones and appealed to people to visit their offices to identify their lost items. Concerning road traffic offences recorded last Friday, Superintendent Seoko stated that the traffic police mounted an operation during month end as a way of curbing traffic accidents.
The operation, he said, netted 38 cases of different types of offences ranging from failure to obey road signs, defective vehicles and failure to wear seat belts.
He said 14 motorists were nabbed for driving under the influence of alcohol while 28 vehicles were impounded for being not road worthy.
The operation also caught 10 unlicensed motorists and two for failure to wear seat belts.
Those caught for driving under the influence of alcohol above the set legal limit would appear at the courts of law, he said. ENDS
