There are some officers in the Ministry of Basic Education in Boteti East constituency who are owed Remote Area Service Allowance (RASA) for a period ranging from two to 14 months.
This was said by the Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale in response to a question from the MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe. Mr Molale said there were five villages which attracted RASA in Boteti East constituency namely Mosu, Mokubilo, Mmea, Khwee and Mmatshumo.
“The number of officers owed RASA in each of these villages are Mmea one, Mokubilo two, Khwee seven, Mmatshumo four and Mosu one,” he explained.
He further noted that they have advised the concerned ministry or any other ministry, for that matter, to pay officers their dues and to avoid denying officers the benefits that they were entitled to.
Mr Lelatisitswe had asked the minister if it was true that there were officers in the Boteti East constituency who were owed RASA for more than four years, and that the majority of these employees were under the Ministry of Basic Education.
He also wanted to know which villages attracted RASA allowance in Boteti East and how many officers in each of these villages were owed the allowance, and for how long and when would they be paid. ENDS
