Sejelo police recently donated uniform, shoes and toiletries to 10 needy students at Sesung in the Southern District.
Superintendent Sello Ntwaagae said when presenting the gifts, that the gesture was a way to reach out to the community within which the police operate.
He believed the donation wouldalso help create much needed synergy between the police and community members.
“We were convinced during our assessment that the 10 beneficiaries truly needed assistance,” he said.
For his part, Sesung Primary School head, Mr Andrew Molale welcomed the assistance, which he said would motivate pupils, some of whom he said walked over 16 kilometres to and from school every day.
He therefore urged beneficiaries to take care of the gifts.
Area councillor, Mr Takane Tautona commended Sejelo police for their social responsibility programme, stating that it touched the lives of the less privileged.
Still at the ceremony, Department of Geological Survey officials on camp at the school also donated uniform and shoes to one of the students. ENDS
