School pupils survive accident
30 Mar 2017
Four school pupils escaped death when their driver lost control of the school minibus, which was trying to overtake another vehicle, but hit a culvert along Boipuso road in Area A location in Francistown.
Speaking in an interview, Supt Lebalang Maniki of Francistown Police Station said only two pupils were treated for minor injuries while their driver was charged with reckless driving.
Supt Maniki said the incident raises concern as it was the second accident this year involving school buses transporting pupils.
He implored drivers to drive carefully when carrying pupils because they were delicate and that such incidents could traumatise them for life.
On other issues, Supt Maniki said there was a rise in office break-ins in Minestone and Area A locations, as they had recorded four incidents over the weekend.
He explained that the robbers took electronic appliances from offices and cautioned the business community to enhance security in their offices.
Supt Maniki further implored them to be involved in neighbourhood watch committees and to strengthen their physical security. ENDS
