Matsha College management vows to transform school

30 Mar 2017

Newly appointed Matsha College head, Mr Tshokologo Dineo says parents and teachers ought to join hands to transform the school and take it to greater highs academically.
He said during a consultative Kgotla meeting which was arranged by Matsha school management in Hukuntsi on March 28.
He said Matsha College has been facing challenges like escalating numbers of students who indulge in mischievous acts such as drugs and alcohol abuse, vandalism of school properties, sexual relationships and practising of satanism. He explained that the school’s bad reputation has lead to some parents transferring their children to other schools because they fear for their future.
Mr Dineo however, assured parents that the bad reputation was the thing of past since the new school management is striving to change the school into a better one which will be envied by many.
He highlighted that the management of Matsha College has come up with initiatives which he believes will mould students into responsible and result orientated students.
These initiatives includes boot camp, prize giving which he says will encourage students to work hard even those who did not get prizes so that next time they also scope a prize.
However said despite their hard work of trying to mould students, some parents do not assist them instead they are the ones who fuel bad behaviour displayed by students.
He said some parents give their children lump sumlarge sums of money which they use to buy drugs and alcohol.
He urged parents to refrain from that since students are provided with three meals during the course of the day which he says it is enough.
He said if parents and teachers are to join hands and work together they can eliminate all those social ills displayed by the students and the school will change for the best.
In his comments, one of the community elders who is also deputy chairperson of Ministers Fraternity, Pastor Richard Mokgethe says they as parents are willing to join hands with Matsha College management in the aim of eliminating all social ills displayed by the students more especially the practise of Satanism by some of them.
He further said that Satanism is a spiritual fight which needs pastor’s intervention, saying he will ask all churches to come together and pray for all schools in the country. ENDS
