WUC upgrades water supply network in Palapye

The rehabilitation as well as the upgrading of the existing water supply network in Palapye will provide the community with sustainable and adequate water supply.
In an interview, Palapye Water Utilities Corporation general manager, Ms Daphne Motsumi said the project which is at completion stage is undertaken by China Jiasung International Botswana Company.
“Once complete the project is expected to improve capacity and efficiency of water supply in the village,” she said.
She said the rehabilitation work involved replacement of worn out and sub-standard pipes while the upgrading involves the installation of new reticulation lines including networks in un-serviced areas of the village.
She said the rehabilitation include network reinforcements within the various wards of Khurumela, Lotsane, Thomadithotse, Serorome, Boikago, Madiba, Industrial, Extension 1, Extension 2, Extension 3, Extension 4 and Extension 5.
Ms Motsumi further noted that the new reticulation works will be within the wards of Extension 6, Extension 7, Extension 8, Extension 9 and Extension 10.
She said other new works include bulk supply pipelines mostly traversing the perimeter of the village while some will be along the wards boundaries as well as a new bulk water storage tank.
She said the project which commenced April 2015 should have been completed in October 2016 and was expected to be complete by the end of March this year.
However, she noted that the project was still expected to continue afterwards with the construction of a bulk storage reservoir and the relevant bodies for award are still adjudicating the portion of work. ENDS
