Seretse praises BSB
17 Jun 2013
The Assistant Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Vincent Seretse has commended Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) for coming second in the customer care service among local banks.
Mr Seretse, who was on a familiarisation tour of the bank on June 14, visited various sections of the bank saying it was important for government to be able to understand what was going on in various institutions that the ministry supervised.
The purpose of the visit was to appreciate operations of the organisation with focus on the status of policies, customer service delivery issues, programme and project implementation and strategic outlook, among others.
Meanwhile, BSB managing director, Mr Leatile Maine said the bank was undergoing rapid transformation as a result of their merger with BotswanaPost. The merger, Mr Maine said, would be an opportunity to operate fully fledged and own managed retail outlets within post offices and also the potential for massive growth.
The MD however noted that sustainability of existing retail infrastructure might be a major impediment. Giving an update on the merger process, Mr Maine said the BSB Transition Act had been approved by Parliament and the Minister of Finance and Development Planning had already been advised to operationalise it by order in the Government Gazette.
He noted that BotswanaPost Transition Act might be tabled in the July sitting of Parliament. ENDS
