With the country having experienced extraordinary rainfall, one also wonders about the kind of harvest to be experienced this year.
Even though some farmers have had their produce damaged, others have made meaningful gains.
Most farmers have complained about the lack of market in Botswana, citing cross border trading as one of the many reasons for such.
Come Sunday April 2, The 3 Trees Gardens in Tlokweng will be a hive of activities as farmers host The Food Farm monthly market.
Speaking in an interview, Tshepiso Sebonego of Flowetry Media House said families should come for a brunch or a late lunch and grab a chance to purchase fresh vegetables and fruits picked from the 3 Trees Gardens on the day.
“The Food Farm will provide a variety of different cuisine, not forgetting a quick cooking tutorial that will show one how to get their farm treats to their fork,” she said.
She indicated that stalls were already sold out and this year would have a limited number of fashion, art and craft stalls.
“The food farm has not forgotten about the children, hence we have introduced the MAPA lounge, which is a Mama-Papa lounge aimed at hosting families and provide a selection of children’s entertainment with a partial nanny service to aid Mamas and Papas,” she continued.
She said tickets were already available at all Computicket outlets around the country for P20 while children under 12 got in for free.
“The Food Farm brings to you the best that Botswana has to offer your palette and we give you a chance to watch your food go from farm to fork,” she said.
She said they managed to secure sponsorship from Mascom Wireless Botswana, therefore there will be a lounge with free Wi-Fi and trending #EatLocal #BuyLocal to encourage Batswana to support other locals.
“Brickz for Kids will also create a play land for the kids in the MAPA Lounge,” she said, adding that signage would be available from Riverwalk Shopping Centre guiding people to the event. ENDS
