Kgatleng land board rewards performers

27 Mar 2017

Kgatleng Land Board recognised and appreciated best performers for their excellence in service delivery as a way of motivating staff members and encouraging others to do well.
When giving a keynote address during the 2016/17 award ceremony held at Phakalane Golf Estate Resort on Friday, the district commissioner for Kgatleng Mr Mompoloki Mochanang noted some performance highlights and notable achievements by the land board.
He said Kgatleng had revolved into an urban environment due to its close vicinity to Gaborone city hence the village had transformed into residence provider for the city.
Mr Mochanang said as the term for board members drew to an end, they had achieved reservation of land for economic investment having put aside 21 industrial plots, 22 small agricultural holdings at Maphephe, 50 institutional plots, 446 plots for Botswana Housing Corporation and 139 hectares at Artesia.
He said for customer service reforms, Kgatleng Land Board started operating during lunch hour beginning of September 2015 in order to provide service to the public and also carry out monthly meetings which were meant to fast track backlogs.
He said the land board also carried out a feasibility study of Kgatleng communal areas leading to an inventory of all livestock water points in Kgatleng District and the implementation of land allocation guidelines in high pressure areas.
Mr Mochanang congratulated land board members who joined staff during the systematic land registration during which a total of 90 000 plot files had been opened and the adjudication of plots into the computerized system stands at 53 per cent.
The award ceremony was conjoined with the land board member’s farewell and the launch of the corporate wear for Kgatleng Land Board staff.
He therefore commended them for working as a team during the land registration and they had proved to be a desirable asset to the nation and they should know that their services remained critical and when called for duty they should accept it.
Nonetheless, the district commissioner implored land board to be responsive to emerging issues and challenged them not to be slaves to their own procedures.
To those receiving the award, he asked them to bear in mind that it was by team work from colleagues that one made it and therefore should always be grateful for the contribution by others.
Mr Mochanang advised them to always shine and place the customer first because their achievement was an indication of dedication, dignity discipline, and professionalism in their areas of operation.
In his welcoming remarks, land board chairperson, Mr Banquo Mogome said the event was meant to recognise those who had done well in the last 12 months.
He said through the help of performance management systems in place, the management then could pick those who had done better than others.
Mr Mogome said they therefore had to thank those who had done well and also celebrate with outgoing board members as their tenure came to an end.
Mr Goabaone Mabole pocketed three awards for being the best technical officer, organisation’s employee of the year and land board secretary’s award.
Ms Matlhodi Ramere got two awards for best performer as a messenger and also the land board secretary’s award while the chairperson’s award went to Artesia sub land board chairperson Mr Kediemetse Ramatlai and the best peforming department award went to the public relations and customer care. ENDS
