FNBB Foundation donates equipment

27 Mar 2017

First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) Foundation has donated rehabilitation and physiotherapy equipment worth P200 000 to Tshidilo Stimulation Centre for people living with disability in Maun.
Speaking at the ceremony recently, FNBB Foundation trustee, Dr Lesedinyana Odiseng said the foundation had realised the importance of supporting the children’s centre with physiotherapy equipment to ensure they were well stimulated.
“At FNBB, supporting the wider community forms an integral part of our existence and children in particular, deserve a conducive environment for every activity they engage in for proper growth because they are the backbone of the nation.
He emphasised the fact that the donation was an indication of the caring ethos that characterises the foundation’s response to the many challenges facing society today.
“It is within our corporate and social responsibility structure not only to provide funds to needy organisations for relief, but also to care about those with special needs via sustainable initiatives,” he said.
Tshidilo Stimulation Centre, board chairperson, Ms Segi Dimbo said over the past years budgetary constraints had made it difficult for the centre to afford such equipment; as such, they were proud because the donation would increase the number of children accepted in the centre.
Ms Dimbo said one of the major challenges was shortage of equipment, as such the donations would go a long way in addressing the challenges faced by children with disability.
Most children with disability benefiting from the centre, she said, came from impoverished families that could not afford such equipment.
“The equipment will build upon our vision as a centre to become technologically advanced state of the art centre in the region, offering world class rehabilitation services to children with disability,” she said.
Ms Dimbo said it was against that background that they appreciated their development partner, FNBB for supporting government in improving the quality of life of people, especially children with disability. ENDS
