The disaster management committee in Zoroga has received goods from the Office of the President to support victims of the recent floods.
Zoroga social worker, Ms Mmaodo Ngwanaathebe, who received the goods on behalf of the committee, said they had already started distributing them to the 44 hardest hit homes.
Ms Ngwanaathebe said the goods included blankets, new clothes for kids and adults, bags of sorghum meal, mealie-meal, flour and sugar, packs of milk, canned beef, fish and beans; cartons of tea, coffee and yeast and toilet paper rolls.
Moreover, she said SR Wholesale from Nata also donated food hampers to flood victims worth P1 200.
A member of the local disaster management committee, Mr Ditiro Barwadi said in an interview that they made a thorough assessment of all the affected people to come up with the 44 most deserving victims.
“It was not easy to come up with such a list because the floods have affected everyone in the village; mostly the mud huts are gone due to excessive wetness,” Mr Barwadi said.
Zoroga Red Cross committee chairperson, Mr Kesetselemang Thanke said three tents, three kitchen units and 14 shelter kits had been dispatched to those affected by the floods in the village. ENDS
