Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen has urged employees of Kgalagadi District Council to lead healthy lifestyles so that they could deliver desired goals on their daily duties.
He said these words in Tsabong recently where he graced the KDC wellness and awards ceremony held under the theme: A healthy, motivated workforce is key to community development.
The assistant minister said it was fundamental for the workforce to have a healthy mind, body and spirit that gave an overall feeling of wellbeing.
He congratulated the best performing employees and urged those who did not receive any awards to work hard in order to improve their performance.
For her part, the council secretary Ms Baipelegeng Photlokwe said it was important for workers to bring out positive results in the workplace and emphasised that this could happen only if they were proud of their work, physically, mentally and emotionally fit because good performance was parallel to good health.
Ms Photlokwe said Kgalagadi District Council was making strides in uplifting the staff performance to produce good results, which would improve customer satisfaction by committed and engaged workforce.
She stated that Kgalagadi District Council had been amongst the worst performing districts, but eventually major improvements had been realised on how it delivered services to customers.
She pointed out that they improved from 67.per cent to 75 per cent score in the 2016/2017 financial year.
“However we still want to be rated as the best performing district. It is our obligation to lead people out of poverty and to facilitate them with necessary skills for social upliftment. ENDS
