Education ministry refutes reports

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development has refuted newspaper reports that it did not spend P4 billion.
"The ministry wishes to put it on record that the statements are untrue, irresponsible and misleading. The fact of the matter is that the said P4bn is the total money unspent by the various government ministries and not Ministry of Education and Skills Development as alleged".
The ministry's permanent secretary, Ms Grace Muzila said the ministry was allocated P8.7 billion and spent P7.8 billion for the financial year 2011/2012. This meant that the ministry did not spend 10 per cent of their budget, which contributed P954 million to the P4 billion. ENDS
