Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe has commended Vivo Energy Botswana for recognising that access to electricity is essential.

Mr Kwerepe applauded the company recently during a donation of 200 solar lights to Dikhukhung Primary School learners.

He said the lights would complement the electricity grid and improve access to energy.

He also added that the gift would go a long way in meeting the needs of the community which in turn would contribute to lasting economic benefits.

Managing director of Vivo Energy Botswana, Mr Martin Morapedi indicated that the donation was part of his company’s corporate social responsibility.

He explained that education was one of the initiatives within their corporate social responsibility model.

He therefore urged and encouraged parents to be part of their children’s education in order to get better results.

For his part, Dikhukhung school head Mr Moelatlhoko Lenyaola expressed gratitude to Vivo Energy for their ‘noble’ gesture.

He said the gift would add more value to his school and help in producing even better results, noting that his school had been performing well in the past five years.

In 2014, the school was at 70 per cent in the Primary School Leaving Examination in 2015 they were at 85.7 per cent while in 2016 they performed well with 87.5 per cent pass.

All this excellent work, Mr Lenyaola said, was due to the support of parents and teachers. ENDS
