Modise re-unites with family
22 Mar 2017
Mr Tshepiso Modise has told Batlhalerwana that he was happy to re-unite with them.
When interacting with his relatives at Tlhalerwana ward in Serowe on March 20, Mr Modise, a spiritual leader of the International Pentecost Church, said his visit came as a result of his late grandfather’s wish to reunite with his tribesmen and countrymen.
He said his grandfather and some family members left for South Africa decades ago.
Mr Modise said he was touched to have reunited and interacted with his relatives after a long time, and that it was important and rejoicing to have met his relatives in Botswana.
He told the gathering, which included some Bangwato dikgosi, that after intensive research which ended up being fruitful, he made connections with some of the relatives and church leaders to organise the reunion visit.
He thanked the elderly people of Tlhalerwana ward for having perfectly narrated the history of the Modises in Botswana.
He added that he wished to have come to Serowe with his mother and promised that during the next visit he would bring her together with his brother and sisters.
Mr Modise said he had always believed that family connections were important, and that the re-union would help him to explain the history of his family to the Modise siblings in South Africa.
He praised God and said his timing was perfect, never early nor late, adding that it was by the will and grace of God for him to have reached Batlhalerwana in Serowe.
During his visit to Serowe, Mr Modise had the opportunity to greet and thank dikgosi at the Bangwato main kgotla.
He also visited the Central District Council chamber where he met the council chairperson, Mr Peter Williams.
Mr Modise blessed the chamber and asked God to give councillors and other leaders more power and strength to lead.
He said peace must prevail at all times in the chamber and the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, Bangwato acting regent, Kgosi Serogola Seretse told the visiting delegates that they were blessed to have a person of Mr Modise's calibre visiting the Bangwato village.
Kgosi Seretse said they were waiting for more blessings in their village from God after Mr Modise’s visit to the village.
Mr Modise pledged to undertake another visit soon to strengthen his knowledge of the history of the family with Batlhalerwa and Bangwato.
He also invited his relatives to join him during his marriage celebration on a date yet to be announced. ENDS
