Kanye Records Centre touch lives

20 Mar 2017

Kanye Records Centre (KRC) staff has donated clothes, shoes, blanket and a mattress to 21-year-old Mphoentle Simane, a resident of Goo-Ruele ward in Kanye, who lives with a disability.

Speaking at the handover ceremony recently, KRC head of station, Ms Tshepho Mosweu said it was imperative for public officers to exhibit compassion beyond their normal call of duty.

Ms Mosweu thus thanked departments of Building and Engineering Services and Ministry

of Youth Empowermemt, Sport and Culture Development  for coming on board to make the event a success.

Ms Mosweu explained that through collaboration, government departments could touch and have a meaningful impact in the lives of many other Batswana.

For his part, Councillor Ben Lebogang said the donation would encourage others, especially the private sector to come up with corporate social responsibility initiatives and assist the less fortunate.

Although the ward is situated a stone throw away from the town centre, he said business owners never came forth to donate to the less privileged residents.

He said it was critical for businesses to plough back to the communities where they do business.

Mr Lebogang also urged Goo-Ruele youth to visit Mphoentle and assist her mother with domestic chores.

Meanwhile, area community development officer, Ms Masego Kgomotso commended KRC for the noble gesture.

She was happy to see public officers going an extra mile to complement government efforts to better the lives of Batswana.

“This is encouraging for us, we thank Kanye Records Centre for their efforts, we are grateful,” she added.

The KRC staff also painted the house, replaced damaged doors, window pane and cleaned the yard during the day as part of community service. ENDS
