In an endeavor to improve accessibility of buildings by people living with disability, the Mandela Washington Fellowship Young African Leader Initiative Botswana (BW YALI) will donate three ramps in the North West region.
Speaking at the stakeholders meeting on March 16, BW YALI representative, Ms Tebogo Nhlatho said the donation was a gesture of showing love and compassion to people living with disabilities.
The donation, she said sought to improve accessibility of buildings for people living with disabilities to easy their movement within and outside buildings.
“We are therefore appealing to members of the community and organizations to help us identify areas where we can display the ramps which will give people with disability a sense of belonging in the community,” she said.
Ms Nhlatho said the one year project which is funded by the US embassy to the tune of P 257 679 was aimed at addressing the needs for people living with disability.
She said that even after the year, the project would continue advocating for people living with disability regionally and nationally.
The project, she said also aimed to sensitise and empower the communities on issues affecting people with disability. ENDS
