Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) chief excutive officer, Dr Akolang Tombale has applauded MOSHOKGA cluster for their initiative of encouraging learners to work hard to improve their academic results.

Dr Tombale said this during the annual MOSHOKGA cluster annual excellence awards in Shoshong recently.

MOSHOKGA is an initiative introduced by Shoshong South councillor Mr Gaoresepe Mhutsiwa, for three village primary schools being Mokibe, Shoshong and Kgamane primary schools to work together towards a common goal in the village to encourage and persuade parents, business community and other stakeholders to actively participate in their children’s education.

Dr Tombale said it was through this initiative of clusters that may be the education system could be uplifted to the world class standards.

He also applauded the government for dividing the then Ministry of Education and Skills Development into two ministries and hoped that challenges that were faced by the then MoESD would be addressed better than before.

He said the theme of the event, which was ‘Stakeholder collaboration: a recipe for quality education’, was directly calling on all to stand up and be part of the education system for better results.

He noted that teachers alone cannot manage to bring quality education, as they were doing their level best regardless of their challenges to bring about desired results.

Dr Tombale said teachers were challenged by amongst others, lack of accommodation, lack of teaching materials and overpopulated classrooms and others but against all these they managed to try their outmost best.

He said like the theme, "all should join hands to work towards quality," therefore, calling unto leaders to visit schools, see the needs for those schools, attend to them, and parents be involved in their children’s education.

Further, he said children have the right to education and it was their responsibility to also make sure they attend schools and do their work, be adventurous, visit libraries, research and empower themselves with knowledge.

Dr Tombale said the future of the country was in everybody’s hands as stakeholders, adding that from now onwards, they should reflect on what they have done concerning education.

“Let us move away from what will my country do for me, but go towards what will I do for my country,” he said.

He said people should be stakeholders that would be a recipe for quality education and know that education on its own was development.

He applauded award winners, to continue to do their best and never be derailed by pressures of this world. He urged them to be winners since a winner was a loser who never quit.

For his part, the area MP also Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele applauded MOSHOKGA cluster and Mr Mhutsiwa for the initiative.

Mr Makgalemele said as a constituency, they had also through the Shoshong Your Investment Destination Initiative included education on their mandate to try promoting it within the constituency.

He said through this, they were promoting the Adopt-A-School and school’s alumni programmes so that everybody had an input in their children’s education.

He  also pleaded with different stakeholders to collaborate with schools, urging other villages around the constituency to copy the MOSHOKGA cluster initiative and try improve their results. ENDS
