07 Mar 2017

Construction of staff houses and classrooms at Nata Primary School, which were built through Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) are at completion stage.
In an interview, LM Super Builders (PTY) LTD, project manager, Mr Eddie Linga said they were only waiting for electricity and water connections, before handing over the propject to council.

Mr Linga said they started the project on February, last year and they had completed it on the set date, which was 20th February this year.
He said the hold up was at Water Utilities Corporation and at Botswana Power Corporation.

He noted that the project consisted of 17 staff houses, some, which were detached and some semi-detached, two classroom blocks, which consisted of double classroom and one other block that had three classrooms and the other two classrooms, which could also be used as a hall as well as five water bourne toilets.  He highlighted that they spent P24.6 million to complete the project.

He said they only had challenges of site layout and disruptions of rainfall, which collapsed the foundation and had to start again at the beginning of the project.
Another challenge, he said was delay of inspection bookings as they had no clerks of work, which  delayed inspectors.

The project, he noted employed 113 citizens.
He said they had to complete the project on time as most students attended their lessons under the trees. The new facilities, he said would enable pupils to learn under a conducive environment. ENDS
