07 Mar 2017
Parliament has heard that 13 candidates in the Special Education Unit at Molefi Senior Secondary School wrote the 2016 BGCSE. Examinations. Minister of Basic Education, Dr Unity Dow also said 12 candidates from Linchwe JSS wrote the 2016 JCE Examinations. Answering a question in Parliament recently, Dr Dow indicated that three of the candidates at Molefi passed with 5Cs or better and only one candidate at Linchwe JSS passed examinations with a B grade and the other three obtained grade D, three obtained grade E while five were awarded grade U.
“Results are not satisfactory as we strive to have all our students passing their examinations. Factors that contributed to this performance are many, but revolve around limited resources for the production of braille materials and human resources to fully support special education,” she said. The MP for Mochudi West, Mr Gilbert Mangole had wanted to know the number of students who sat for the 2016 examinations in the Special Education Department at Molefi SSS and Linchwe JSS respectively. Mr Mangole also wanted the minister to state the results obtained and whether the performance was satisfactory and if not, what factors led to such unsatisfactory performance. ENDS
