The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) has embarked on a number of major projects ever since the inception of community service programme.
Such projects include builidng and painting Leobo at Manaledi Village and reviving the Block 9 Recreational park.
When giving remarks during community service day at Thebe Primary School, Mr Kgopotso Ramoroka who is the Deputy Permanent Secretary at MYSC said the ministry’s community service projects are based on the mandate of the ministry.
He highlighted that the school was selected to benefit the school children for purposes of grooming them on Botswana culture and enhance sport at grass root level.
For his part, Mr Motsumi Lekone who is the deputy coordinator of community services at MYSC said they donated balls, nets, traditional attire and traditional items to be kept in the traditional hut and also football poles because the school management had indicated that there is shortage of such.
“I am grateful for what MYSC has done today because this is not the first time we worked with them, because in 2013 the ministry officially opened the traditional house and now they are bringing traditional items to be kept in this house as a way of preserving culture and imparting knowledge to our children about our culture”, said the chairperson of Thebe Primary Parents Teacher Association.
