Mmadinare Phikwe welcome Kast
07 Mar 2017
Mmadinare and Selebi Phikwe communities welcomed Tshepiso Molapisi aka Kast, who is on a 1 000km walk from Maun to Gaborone on his Tlatsa Lebala campaign.
Kast passed by Mmadinare and Selebi Phikwe from Serule.
Magnitudes welcomed him and his crew upon arrival at Mmadinare Senior Secondary School junction, where they joined in on his walk to the kgotla where he was welcomed by the Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Kefentse Mzwinila and the village leadership.
Mzwinila, who is also Member of Parliament for Mmadinare pledged the ministry’s support during his walk until Tlatsa Lebala show takes place.
He said government had shown interest in Kast’s endeavour in that he showed determination and perseverance in achieving his goal.
Minister Mzwinila said Kast had put a lot of effort and resources in the campaign and deserved recognition and support.
He said the campaign should be a lesson to the youth that anything was possible and that all it took was work.
Government, he said, would provide the national stadium free of charge for the Tlatsa Lebala Show and urged Mmadinare residents and the entire country to support the initiative.
“This also calls for local artistes to support one another,” he said.
In Selebi Phikwe, Kast and crew were met by deputy mayor, Molefhi Pilane with residents and walked to the town centre, where they were hosted at Giavanos Resturant for lunch.
It was a fun-filled moment for residents as they saw an opportunity to take pictures and chat with the star.
Pilane thanked Kast for including Selebi Phikwe and Mmadinare, more so that the two were outside his 1 000km campaign radius.
He requested Kast to consider holding a show at Selebi Phikwe stadium with other artistes after the Tlatsa Lebala event.
Kast appreciated the support he was getting from Batswana, noting that wherever he went, he was warmly welcomed, something he said motivated him and his crew to push harder for the mission to be successful.
The 1 000km walk, he said, was his commitment to the music industry, saying the Tlatsa Lebala show would be 100 per cent local artistes and this should encourage promoters to give local artistes the same attention and support as internationals, especially during shows where promoters sometimes offered low quality equipment to local artistes.
He thanked the ministry of youth and private organisations for supporting him and urged Batswana to purchase tickets for the Tlatsa Lebala show.
Giavanos Restaurant Donated P1 000, Selebi Phikwe community donated P1 200 and held a barbeque session for Kast and his crew at Makhubu Area 2.
A youth from Bobonong, Francisco Malefela paid for accommodation for Kast and crew at Syringa Lodge.
Botswana Renault Motors donated a vehicle for Kast and his crew to use during the 1 000km walk.
Kast was joined by Mosako at Mmadinare and Appollo D in Selebi Phikwe. ENDS
