The solar powered health centre donated to Sehithwa would lead to improved quality and timely services to the people, the Ngami District Health Management Team (DHMT) head Dr Malebogo Pusoentsi has said.

Dr Pusoentsi noted that the solar powered Telemedicine Centre which digitally connects Sehithwa clinic with medical professionals across would help the community immensely who were only relieved by a doctor on a once a month basis.

The digital solar powered health Centre donated by Samsung and the Korean Embassy comprises of a Medical Imaging (ultra sound) services, laboratory and oral health clinic.
Dr Pusoentsi said the laboratory would allow patients to get immediate results after screening.

The Telemedicine, she said would allow the health professionals to network therefore allow the Sehithwa community access to other doctors across the world.  Dr Pusoentsi said the health Centre would surely assist other communities beyond Ngami district such as Okavango.

She noted that the Ministry of Health and Wellness strived for quality of health services but was faced with challenges of shortage of doctors.
Sehithwa clinic, she noted was an on call facility with limited services of childcare, ARV dispensation and outpatient.

In his remarks, the Korean Ambassador Yeon-Ho Choi appreciated the government of Botswana and the stakeholders who made the digital village possible.
Ambassador Choi observed that the digital village would link Sehithwa to other places therefore help improve basic health needs.

He said the Samsung digital village would contribute a lot to the country of Botswana, noting that Botswana and Korea’s diplomatic ties dated back to 1968; therefore the two would celebrate 50 years next year.

The area councilor, Mr Maitiro Segosebe appreciated Samsung and the Korean Embassy for the health Care Centre.
Mr Segosebe said the development was worthwhile since the community has been complaining about shortage of a medical doctor. ENDS
