Radipotsane unfazed by inconsistency

06 Mar 2017

In the wake of their zero all stalemate away to Sua Flamingos on Saturday afternoon, former premiership outfit, BR Highlanders coach, Oris Radipotsane says his team's inconsistent results do not faze him and his team at all.

Inconsistent results have seen them collect merely four points from a possible 12 in the past four games, something that should concern them as they aim for immediate premier league return.

Stimela, as Highlanders are popularly known, have registered two losses against Maun Tigers and Motlakase, a win against log leaders Tafic and most recently a draw away to Sua Flamingoes in their First Division North encounters.

Coach Radipotsane said in an interview they were not even worried about the recent inconsistent results because they were playing against top four teams and getting four points from all the games still pit them among the favourites to gain promotion.

The former Gaborone United assistant coach said the results however, put a dent to their automatic promotion quest saying “but nothing to seriously worry about as we are still in contention with other teams in the top half of the log.”

“Despite these results, we are still in contention for promotion as we are now done with our direct competitors in the top four and in the coming games we are still to play  teams in the bottom of the log.

Our direct rivals are yet to play against each other and in one way or the other, they are bound to drop points, which will be an advantage to us,” added Radipotsane.
Asked if he felt hard-done by the stalemate they played away to Sua Flamingoes over the past weekend, he said they played well and they deserved to win the game.
He added that they played a top team and it was not going to be easy to beat their opponents especially playing away from home.

With eight games remaining to determine the league champions, Radipotsane was however satisfied with how his team had been playing in the second half of season as they were showing improved and sublime combination play and zest.
“The signings we made during the January window are starting to show combination play we are looking for, a little bit of flair in our play and it is starting to work for us,” he said.

He also said they cannot afford to drop anymore points in the coming games because they were now four points below TAFIC and only a point and two above Sua Flamingoes and Motlakase respectively, with only eight games to spare.

Meanwhile, Highlanders are expected to collect maximum points over the weekend when they host Great North Tigers (GNT) at Railways grounds if they still harbour the prospect of seeing themselves back in the premiership. ENDS
