Khama to address international tourism meet in Germany

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama today leaves for Berlin, Germany to attend the International Tourism Exhibition (Bourse) – ITB Berlin 2017.
A news release from the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation, states that the President has been invited as the guest of honour, and he will thus deliver a keynote address at the global event.
The release further states that the International Tourism Exhibition is an annual event held in Germany. It was launched in 1966 with a view to promote global tourism. Today, it is regarded as the World’s leading travel trade show.
“In March 2016, the government of Botswana partnered with ITB Berlin 2017, in order to boost Botswana’s international awareness as a tourism destination of choice. As a partner country, this will afford Botswana an invaluable opportunity to share her experience and success in the tourism sector. This further enables Botswana to showcase her cultural heritage, market services and tourism related investment opportunities, including investment opportunities. Botswana has been participating at the International Tourism Exhibition for the past 15 years,” the release states.
Whilst in Germany, the President will have an opportunity to meet with President Joachim Gauck of Germany, as well as chancellor Dr Angela Merkel, to discuss issues of mutual interest.
President Khama will be accompanied by the Minister of Environment, National Resources Conservation and Tourism, Mr Tshekedi Khama and other senior government officials.
The President and his delegation are scheduled to return on Thursday. ENDS
