Re A Nyalana restores dignity
28 Feb 2017
Marriages conducted through Re A Nyalana society are as legal and sound as any other, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has said.
Speaking during a Re A Nyalana mass wedding at Mabeleapodi for beneficiaries from Tshimoyapula, Paje and the host village, Assistant Minister Tshireletso called on the beneficiaries to respect their marriages and live by their vows.
Ms Tshireletso, who is also a Member of Parliament for Mahalapye East advised the couples to heed advice from district commissioner and magistrates who inducted them on marriage and child care.
Whilst imploring the couples to adhere to laws that govern the institution, the assistant minister also advised that cultural practices and customs be followed pertaining to contribution of what was traditionally known as kgomo ya metsi (cow to be feasted on during celebrations) under Ngwato culture.
The assistant minister also hailed the society as providing a platform for the less privileged to finally achieve their dreams of being able to marry their lovers without immense financial burden as practiced by the well-offs.
Ms Tshireletso revealed that Re A Nyalana has already assisted about 3 500 couples to realise their dreams of marriage across the country.
Meanwhile area MP Mr Kgotla Autlwetse reiterated to his constituents that despite the initiative coming cheap, their marriages were equally solemnised and their wedding as celebratory as those prepared at exorbitant prices. ENDS
