27 Feb 2017
Francistown-based, Tafic players got the shock of their lives after losing 1-0 to BR Highlanders in Mahalapye over the weekend.
During the Debswana First Division North, the two sides, which occupies first and second positions respectively on the log saw the hosts, BR Highlanders reducing the five-point gap between them and the popular Matjimenyenga.
It was a very painful loss for the Francistown-based outfit as this was their first loss since the league started,
The game started on a very low note, with Tafic settling better than their opponents, but could not get past BR goalkeeper Molatlhegi Lapologang.
Lapologang proved to be a very good asset to BR Highlanders as he did everything he could to stop Tafic from continuing with their winning spree.
However, as the game continued BR Highlanders also came to their senses and kept on visiting Tafic’s goalkeeper, Abednico Morapedi but to no avail. The two went for break with a goalless score.
Despite the slippery grounds, the two came back with much zest to win but Tafic supporters who had thronged Railway grounds in large numbers were silenced by a penalty shoot from BR Highlanders’ Mogakolodi Balatotse.
Tafic coach, Elias Chinyemba said it was a tough game.
He said he was disappointed that his team lost but glad they lost to a strong team.
Chinyemba said his players could not get past BR Highlanders’ high balls, which led to their downfall.
However, he said they would make a comeback in their coming matches as their aim was play in the elite league.
BR Highlanders’ coach, Oris Radipotsane said he was glad his team won, putting them in a very good position.
Radipotsane said his boys came prepared and played well, something that he was happy with. ENDS
