Galaxy through to finals

27 Feb 2017

BDF XI marksman, Roger Kumbee Katjiteo and man of the match scored a hat-trick  against  first timers, Jwaneng Galaxy FC during a six-goal, Mascom Top 8 semi-final thriller played in Jwaneng yesterday.
The Namibian striker, who is a combination of sheer brute force, height and talent almost single-handedly netted thrice to see his team come from behind on the 30th,65th and 76th minute to end the game with three goals apiece.

Unfortunately for him, they lost 4-3 on goal aggregate.

Galaxy, on their maiden appearance in the lucrative tournament, are through to the finals.

It had taken about 27 minutes for Galaxy to score the first goal through the talented winger, Thero Setsile.

Setsile who was strategically positioned inside the box was located by Tebogo Sembowa with a pass that cut across the mouth of goal from the right flank, and cool as a cucumber, he banged it in. But Roger equalised three minutes later through a header to end the first half with 1-1 tie.

When Galaxy extended their lead 10 minutes into the second half through Peter Olangi from a seemingly off-side position, BDF XI almost gave up the fight.

Olangi had barely three minutes into the match when he scored. But hope came when Roger, like a true champion, converted a somewhat dead ball from outside the 18th yard area into a lucky goal.

The pitch was wet and luckily for Roger, Anthony Gouws slipped the seemingly harmless strike into the back of his net.

After the goal BDF XI Coach, Louis Setshwane threw caution to the wind by introducing Boitshoko Zikhale for Kobamelo Kebaikanye, a feared hardworking winger who is also endowed with speed and skill in an effort to get a match winner, but his decision almost misfired when Morris Ruzivo converted a rebound from keeper Mosimanegape Moilwa a minute later. Roger, with a never-say- die-spirit, once more pounced on a ball in front of goal and gave Gouws no chance.

Galaxy coach, Mike Sithole said he was happy that his team qualified for the finals but unhappy that they were scored what he described as silly goals, which made them play under pressure during the match.

Even so, he further shared that he was also pleased with the way the boys reacted after conceding the goals adding it was a show of character and champion material.

Setshwane, although he lost, was happy with his players’ performance. ENDS
