Mandela Washington fellows target PLWDs
23 Feb 2017
The Francistown City Council (FCC) Mayor, Ms Sylvia Muzila has urged Mandela Washington Fellowship stakeholders to come up with ideas that will uplift the lives of people living with disabilities (PLWDs).
Speaking at a workshop held by the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she encouraged the association, including the councillors to take part in the event.
Ms Muzila encouraged the stakeholders to think about how they could manufacture different properties for people living with diability and come up with ideas that could improve them like provision of wheelchairs.
She further said they should think about what could be done to improve their lives and one Mandela Washington fellow, Ms Monalisa Mungure said they chose to focus on PLWDs because they were given low priority by the society, including their family members.
“Our goal is to raise awareness by giving understanding and how people can help those with disabilities to create platforms so that they have their own voices and how to get informed,” said Ms Mungure. BOPA
