Be alert on the roads-Roads Department

Following heavy rains in some parts of the country, Roads Department is cautioning all road users to be alert on the roads at all times for danger posed by high volumes of storm water.
A press release from Roads department says road engineers have made observations of a number of roads and bridges which are being persistently affected by flash rains especially in Southern, North east and Central regions and this has resulted in roads declared impassable for hours and some for days due to flooding.
The release further says that the public is warned not to use roads or cross bridges affected by heavy flooding as this has a possibility leading to damage of property and loss of life and meanwhile, Roads department is vigilant on the condition of roads during this period and will inform the public accordingly.
The public is advised to report any road anomaly to toll-free number 17779 or 3657901
