BOMAID signs deal with India specialists

The Botswana Medical Aid Society (Bomaid) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Dehli, India.
Speaking during a media brief, the chief operations officer at Bomaid Dr Lorato Mangadi said the partnership was an effort to expand service provider network and its members’ access to quality healthcare at an affordable cost.
“Partnering with Apollo Hospital is an opportune gesture to both the Bomaid member and the Fund,” said Dr Mangadi.
She said the agreement was part of an ongoing strategy to manage the Fund without compromising the members’ access to high quality healthcare services.
She also said the partnership allowed Bomaid members to visit India for high value medical procedures such as organ transplants, major cardiac surgeries, joint replacement, spine surgery and cancer treatments.
“This partnership is cost effective to the Fund and will in addition to offering our members an opportunity to high quality and advanced treatments and to relieve them the burden of excessive out of pocket expenses which are usually associated with these costly procedures,” she added.
She further said Bomaid members who are eligible and are medically fit for travel at the recommendation of their local doctors will be offered an option to be treated in India as part of the agreement and Bomaid will cover medical, travel and accommodation costs for the members.
For his part, the manager of international business at Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Vineet Arora said they were in Botswana to engage with the local medical fraternity in an effort to foster relations and to create a roadmap for referrals. Dr
