Child protection for all

20 Feb 2017

Ms Kgomotso Sejoe a social worker at Marang Child Care NetworkTrust has implored parents and guardians to remain committed to the well being of their children.

During a workshop on child protection in Molepolole on Tuesday, Ms Sejoe emphasised the need for children to be trained on the importance of a ‘Tree of life’, a psychological tool support based on narrative practice of children’s daily life.

She said children could use the programme to tell stories about their life, however stating that the tree was mostly for the vulnerable and HIV/AIDS infected children to tell, hear and explore stories of loss without remaining trapped in grief or bereavement.

Tree of life is structured in a way that it enables children to speak about their daily lives, where they come from, their family history and people who have contributed to their development, their skills and important people to them, gifts received and offered to others.

Molepolole Administrative Authority deputy district commissioner  Ms Ngaka hailed the committee for committing to protection of children’s rights which she said was long overdue for the 22 sub villages.

She expressed delight of a job well done by the child protection committee members urging them to work as a team to ensure that children’s rights were not violated.

“It is important to work as a team and counsel each other because the life of a child is at stake,” she said.BOPA
