No RASA for Sepako civil servants
20 Feb 2017
Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe told Parliament that he was not aware that public servants at Sepako were not earning the Remote Area Service Allowance (RASA).
He said there were seven villages classified as Remote Area Dweller Settlements (RADSs) in the Tutume Sub-district, namely, Kutamogore, Lepashe, Manxotae, Tsokatshaa, Maposa, Sepako and Zoroga.
The assistant minister stated that the delay in paying RASA to Public Servants at Sepako in accordance with Directive No.2 of 2013 was as a result of an omission in including Sepako in the list of Remote Area Dweller Settlements, adding that DPSM director had issued a directive to normalise that.
Mr Kwerepe said this when answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Nata-Gweta, Mr Polson Majaga, who wanted to know if the minister was aware that Public Servants at Sepako were not earning the Remote Area Service Allowance (RASA).
MP Majaga also wanted the minister to state the number of Remote Area Dweller Settlements (RADs) in the Tutume Sub-district and explain what caused the delay in paying RASA to Sepako public servants, given the fact that Public Service Directive NO.2 of 2013 states that Category 1 is inclusive of all RADS.
